Project "Frontiers", a collaboration between the Royal Photographic Society and the North Wales Photographic Association, was run in 2021.
The aim of this project was to encourage photographers of all levels to work on a photography project in their vicinity, probably trying something they haven't attempted before, and to engage with fellow photographers.
The topic was the photographic exploration of peri-urban areas, often called “edgelands” or “fringelands”, and the idea centred on photographically approaching locations we are usually inclined to regard as not worthy to be photographed.
The project resulted in the production of two self-published photobooks, one with the contribution by 17 participants in North Wales ("Frontiers - Edgelands in North Wales"), and one with text and images by 46 photographers in North Wales and England ("Frontiers - Views on Edgelands").
The electronic versions for both books are available on issuu via the links below, or click on the images.
