A remarkable collection of 224 autochrome plates have been given to the RPS by the family of Sir Robert Bird, Bt. Bird was a member of the RPS from 1915 until his death in 1960. He created a remarkable series of autochromes photographing his wife, daughter, garden and the places he visited.
An article discussing Bird and his colour photography by Dr Michael Pritchard was published in the RPS Journal (March-April, 2021, pages 194-199. A fuller examination of Bird's collection of autochromes appears in the RPS Historical Group's The PhotoHistorian no. 189 (Spring 2021).
