Sue Wright is a photographer and Chair of the RPS Women in Photography Group. Her voluntary work focuses on creating opportunities for women photographers to connect, participate and have their work seen. She led 40%: Inspiring Women MPs Photographed by Women, bringing together women photographers across the UK to create a photographic record of women’s representation in Parliament.

My involvement with the RPS has brought me into contact with so many wonderful photographers, particularly through Women in Photography, and much of what I have done has been about creating opportunities for others to connect, participate and have their work seen. To have that voluntary contribution recognised by the RPS in this way means a great deal to me.”

Sue Wright Chair of the Women in Photography Group since 2020, Sue has overseen the Women in Photography membership and created opportunities for women photographers to gain visibility and recognition. Through her vision, perseverance she has delivered a project of lasting cultural value and made an outstanding contribution to both the RPS and the wider photographic community.
Delivering the groundbreaking 40% Project. Leading more than 130 RPS Women in Photography members, she coordinated the photography of all 265 women MPs elected in 2024, creating a unique and significant record of a milestone in British democracy.
Sue drove the project from concept to publication, engaging photographers, MPs and partners while managing a complex nationwide operation. She also led the successful crowdfunding campaign supporting the publication of the project's hardback book.
Through Sue’s hard work as Chair, together with the success of the WIP magazine, WE ARE, the group has gone from strength to strength, with growing membership and an expanding social media following.
