Rediscovering Our Forgotten Heritage - a Talk by Matt Emmett
Event info
We would like to invite you to join us for a talk by award winning photographer Matt Emmet on the evening of Monday 11th April. from 7.30 GMT
After a chance encounter with an abandoned jet engine testing establishment, Matt Emmett was drawn into the world of abandoned location photography, he instantly became obsessed with the fascinating back stories and tangible sense of place and history at the locations he visited. Capturing and bringing these stories into peoples homes via his social channels has evolved into a decade long project titled, 'Forgotten Heritage'. From the crumbling shells of leafy ruins to the raw spectacle of impressive industrial remnants. Immense and powerful beauty is revealed in the images he brings back from places long forgotten by humans. The images, although produced primarily as art also form an important collection with regards to visual preservation of our built environment and heritage. Many of the places Emmett has captured have since been redeveloped or demolished.
