Chloe Dewe Mathews:Artist Talk
Event info
BOOKING CLOSES AT NOON ON THURSDAY 21ST MAY
In collaboration with the RPS Documentary Group, the Digital Imaging Group is delighted to present an online talk by Chloe Dewe Mathews, a Fine Art graduate who has dedicated herself to ambitious, long-term documentary projects covering a diverse range of subjects, often exploring the relationship between people and the land. Her series Shot at Dawn focuses on 23 sites in France and Belgium where Allied soldiers were executed by their own regiments for desertion and ‘cowardice’ in the First World War. For another project, Caspian, she travelled to the far corners of the Caspian Sea in order to examine the deep links between the people of the Caspian and its natural resources.
In this presentation, Dewe Matthews discusses how she develops her projects, from conception through execution to final expression in books and exhibitions, tracking a few in detail. The way she finds her subjects and her painstaking pursuit of what she has found is inspiring.
