Good Picture 2019

Now in its 17th year, the Good Picture symposium is returning to the University of Westminster, 309 Regent Street, London on Saturday 14th December 2019 from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

This year, the symposium has even more significance than usual. On 17th December 1919, the Scientific and Technical Group of The RPS held its very first meeting. 100 years later, the Imaging Science Group, as it is now known, presents "Good Picture" as the springboard for a year of centenary celebrations.

"Good Picture 2019 - Imaging Revealed" brings together an eclectic mix of eminent scientists and photographers for a day of fascinating and entertaining talks, aimed as much at keen amateurs and students as at imaging professionals. The aim is to show how an understanding of some key aspects of imaging can help all of us take 'Good Pictures'.

This year's speakers are:

• Dr Tony Kaye ASIS FRPS (Imaging Consultant) -  Artificial Intelligence in Photography for Photo Enthusiasts

• Dr Jonathan Crowther (JMC Scientific Consulting Ltd.) - Imaging the Skin - UV, Visible and IR

• Oliver van Zwanenberg (University of Westminster) - Measuring Camera Performance from Natural Scenes

• Gary Evans ASIS FRPS (Chair, RPS Imaging Science Group) - Images as the Language of Science

• Rex Waygood BSc MSc (RPS Digital Imaging Group) - An Exploration of Colour Spaces in photoshop

• James Mann FRPS (Professional photographer) - Automobile Photography Through the Ages

• Dr Alan Hodgson ASIS FRPS (Imaging Scientist and RPS President) - Characterising the Colour Response of Cameras

Tickets are priced at £74, with a concessionary rate of £42 for students, retired or unemployed delegates. The price includes a hot and cold buffet lunch as well as morning and afternoon refreshments.
