Learn creative and artistic Photoshop techniques in the comfort of your own home delivered through the Virtual Classroom.

Adobe Photoshop is considered the gold standard for creative photographers. With its vast range of tools, menus, panels and buttons, it can appear overwhelming.  Using prepared examples and “Recipe Cards” Celia Henderson LRPS, a Flower photography specialist has adapted her face to face workshops to work in a Zoom based distance teaching environment. 

Module 1 - Getting started with Photoshop and Flowers is an introduction to Photoshop and recommended for those who are new(ish) to Photoshop and to learning in the Zoom virtual classroom.  This series of mini-workshops will ensure participants are comfortable with the basics of the Photoshop interface and have an overview of the fundamental tools and techniques and are  ready to progress to having fun and working with some of the creative concepts.

Workshop 1.1: The Virtual Classroom [Zoom] – Saturday at 10:00 am

• Overview of Zoom and the virtual Classroom, Microphones, Video and sharing screens
• Splitting windows (so you can watch and work alongside)
• Downloading and using the resources we supply – Recipe cards and images
• Mini tour of working with Photoshop
• Your questions answered

Workshop 1.2: Photoshop – Getting set up – Sunday at 10:00 am

• Photoshop interface and workspaces - tools, menus, option bar and panels
• Commands and keyboard shortcuts
• Crop Tool, straightening and Ruler Tool
• Basic selection tools
• Working with Colours

Workshop 1.3: Layers and Image Editing Tools - Tuesday 10:00 am

• Creating new layers
• Opacity
• Clone Tool
• Filters
• Brush, Blur and Smudge tools

Workshop 1.4: Basic Image Adjustments and Output – Thursday 10:00 am

• Hue and Saturation
• Colour Balance
• Brightness / Contrast
• File formats – PSD, JPG
• Saving images

Further Workshops

And with Module 1 under your belt, now you are ready for Module 2 and Module 3 where the arty stuff happens.  Using blur filters, selections and layer masks and a host of hints and tips to create impressionist and soft and gentle images.  Module 3 looks in depth at working with Filters, Layer blends and Smart objects and Smart Filter tools for working non-destructively as well as some interesting ways of working with colour.

Each module consists of three 75 minute workshops.

Celia Henderson LRPS

Between 2009 and 2013 Celia worked with Sony as one of their Advocate Photographers and ran workshops and presented lectures on flower photography at the 2012 Sony World Photography Awards in Somerset House, London, the Edinburgh University Photographic Society and demonstrated the Sony Alpha camera range over several years at “Focus on Imaging” show at the NEC Birmingham and at RHS Wisley.  Celia is an IT Lecturer and has combined her love of photography with that of teaching to deliver workshops where you will be inspired, motivated, entertained and shown techniques and tools that will provide you with the skills for the Art of Flower Photography.
