Western Region 2022 AGM with special guest Charlie Waite

Event info

The Western Region AGM will take place on Sunday 9 January 2022 commencing promptly at 10.30am. We have arranged a stellar line-up of speakers to make the event a very special occasion.

Whist It is important to make the effort to attend to meet and elect new committee members, we will quickly take care of our usual statutory business before hearing from two outstanding individuals in the world of photography.

First, we will have the pleasure of meeting TRACY MARSHALL-GRANT the newly appointed Director of Development for the RPS who will tell us a little about what drives and motivates her. Tracy will also share her goals for her new role in the RPS in the coming months and years.

Described by many as a powerhouse in the photography world, Tracy joins the RPS with an established track record of directing and curating several international photography festivals and galleries in England and Ireland, most recently the inaugural Bristol Photo Festival.

The second half of our meeting is a session everybody with an interest in landscape photography will want to be part of.

'Behind The Photograph' with Charlie Waite FRPS

World-renowned CHARLIE WAITE FRPS has accepted our invitation to spend an hour or so talking to RPS members about his passion for landscape photography. In particular he will describe how immersion into the creative process to produce his images adds to the excitement and wonder of capturing the diversity and beauty of the landscapes across our world - and will encourage you to experience the pleasure and benefits of doing likewise.

Although he will need no introduction to most, we think it worth recording a few of Charlie’s achievements.

  • He has lectured to audiences across the globe
  • His awards amongst others include a Fellowship of The Royal Photographic Society, the prestigious Honorary Fellowship to the British Institute of Professional Photographers, as well as the Amateur Photographer magazine’s Power of Photography award
  • He is co-owner and co-founder of Light and Land, Europe’s leading photographic workshop and tour company https://www.lightandland.co.uk/about
  • In 2006 Charlie launched UK Landscape Photographer of the Year, an annual photography competition that has become the benchmark for celebrating the diversity and beauty of the British landscape. https://www.lpoty.co.uk/competition

Charlie will show 40 or so of his pictures that will illustrate the points he makes in his talk.

We hope you agree this is an opportunity not to be missed
