Archaeology & Heritage
Welcome
Archaeology and heritage have always been of interest to photographers and from its inception in the 1970s, this group helped shape archaeological photography and recording. Photography is now an integral part of recording archaeological sites and the profession well established. What has followed is photography to help illustrate and understand heritage in all its forms, from a delicate worked Mesolithic flint blade, to an expanse of cold war military structures and everything in between. It is more than parish churches and buildings, it is objects, places and people.
It is a skill to put over often complicated information about the past into a photograph, and to engage and enthuse the public with that image. A photo tells a story that often words cannot fully portray.
