Nigel Tooby FRPS
This extract is drawn from Nigel's book "Of our times: the price of money" which was awarded Fellowship in May 2012. The book critically explores business greed and the detrimental effects that this can have on people and their lives. The images are very carefully designed to communicate messages on their own but also in sub-groups as well as the book holistically. Accordingly, the work is interwoven with little themes which become evident by piecing together clues offered in seemingly unconnected images and in this way some complex messages can be communicated. The extract shown here includes both the first and last images in the book and deals with aspects of materialism, emotional attitude, marital stress/breakdown, health, priorities & work life balance in a way which no single image could ever capture. The images repay close scrutiny because every little detail has meaning of some sort and clues are often very subtle. Indeed, it is sometimes what is left out of the image which has a louder voice.
