The Shipping Forecast Gallery

Winners

The Shipping Forecast Project ran from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. Landscape Group members were invited to submit up to 4 images from 17 sea areas along with the actual shipping forecast for the day(s) of the image(s).

Here are the original project details, including all the sea areas.

A panel of judges reviewed all submitted images and awarded up to three stars for their selected images. Many thanks to the three judges, Richard Ellis ARPS, Fiona McCowan FRPS and Viv Cotton ARPS, for their time in reviewing and selecting the chosen images.

All selected images are presented in each of the sea areas below. Congratulations to all whose images were chosen. The top-rated images for each sea area are highlighted below, along with the actual shipping forecast for the day the image was taken. Other commended images are shown in the combined gallery at the bottom of this page.

Despite living in the Cotswolds, a long way from the coast, I love being by the sea. I am at my happiest on a deserted beach with my camera and the time to appreciate the beauty of the landscape.

In October 2021 I was delighted to be awarded the first RPS Fellowship in the Photobook genre for my book In the Offing. A handmade book based on a 4 year coastal photographic project. In June 2022 I was appointed to the RPS Distinctions Assessment Team as a panel member for the Photobook genre.
