Landscape Group Members submitted another stunning collection of images to the Landscape Group competition during June 2023.
1st Place
Little Tree In The Mist Tuscany by Ashley Franklin ARPS
This award means more than most as it’s decided by my fellow landscape photographers. I thank them for their taste and wisdom. This image was captured last May when I was running a Tuscany workshop with landscape photographer Wayne Brittle. We always stay in a hotel in the Val D’Orcia, not least because it has a private balcony overlooking Belvedere, one of the most breathtaking sights on Earth, especially in mid-May when the mists ebb and flow in the dips and folds of these rolling hills. At times like these, I always think of Lee Frost’s article in Photography Monthly in 2002 when he beheld a May morn mist at Belvedere and wrote this: ‘The scene changed by the minute, every permutation a natural work of art.’ It was Lee’s words that brought me to this landscape, and after four visits, I decided to run a workshop, mainly because I wanted other photographers to capture the same magic as I had. Belvedere certainly cast its spell when I shot this award-winning picture. On mornings like this, my long lens always gravitates towards this lone tree sitting on a hilltop. Then, it’s just a question of waiting for the mist to swirl itself into captivating shapes. Most of my best landscapes involve mist as it can transform a scene, making it simple, smooth and serene.

How To Enter
RPS Landscape Group members may submit one jpg image, per month. Before submitting, please resize your image to 2000px wide.
Members are able to add their own image on the monthly competition page by clicking on the 'Add Photo'. After loading the image please add the title and your name and do include your RPS distinction.
Winners and runners up will have their images displayed on RPS Landscape website, Facebook the Newsletter and Instagram
All Landscape Group members will be invited to vote and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed winners will be announced on the RPS Landscape Group website and RPS Landscape Group's Social Media on the 1st of the month.
Open for entries 1st to 23rd.
Voting takes place 24th to 28th.
