Winners Announcement

Landscape Group Members submitted another stunning collection of images to the Landscape Group competition during March 2023.

 

1st Place

 

Lusbah Landscape by Mohammed Arfan Asif FRPS

I love to photograph landscapes and the dunes are closest to my heart. Whenever I interact with them, I try to spend time deciding on interesting compositions and perspectives that would present their stature, their indomitable spirit, their grandeur as well as their sensuousness. This image was taken in the deserts of Umm Al Quwain, an emirate in the United Arab Emirates. They are quite close to the mountainous terrain of the Musandam range. The iron content of these sands gets oxidized over time and presents an orange hue which is further accentuated by the morning light. The foliage was included here to balance the crescentic sand dunes as they flow in a meandering pattern upwards. The light predominantly striking the slip face was good and bright and therefore, the exposure ensured good depth of field with F stop 11 at 1/500 shutter speed using my Canon 70-300mm at 270mm with ISO 200 on my Canon 5DMk2.

How To Enter

RPS Landscape Group members may submit one jpg image, per month.  Before submitting, please resize your image to no more than 2000px wide. 

Members are able to add their own image on the monthly competition page by clicking on the 'Add Photo'.  After loading the image please add the title and your name and do include your RPS distinction.  

Winners and runners up will have their images displayed on RPS Landscape website, Facebook the Newsletter and Instagram

All Landscape Group members will be invited to vote and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed winners will be announced on the RPS Landscape Group website and RPS Landscape Group's Social Media on the 1st of the month.

Open for entries 1st to 23rd.

Voting takes place 24th to 28th.
