Winners Announcement
Landscape Group Members submitted another stunning collection of images to the Landscape Group competition during May 2023.
1st Place
Light Through the Beech Trees by Richard Inwood
A small group of us from Steyning CC and West Dean College made our annual pilgrimage to this Sussex bluebell wood in the hope of seeing something different this year; we did. For this image three shots were taken using the display touch shutter on a Nikon Z 7II, ISO 64, 1/10 sec and then focus stacked in Lightroom/Photoshop. The lens was a Nikkor Z 24-120mm F4 S at 76mm and I used a Benro tripod. Sunrise was at 0540 and this image was taken at 0640 so just towards the end of The Golden Hour. The golden hour effect has shown through in the beautiful colour of the sun streaming through the trees. The view shown in the image was over very quickly, changing to normal daylight, and thus, luck seems to have played a role in getting this shot (or was it getting up at 0300?). The adage “get there early and leave late” seems to have been successful on this occasion.
Finally, thank you to all those who voted.
