WE ARE Magazine’s September 2025 issue is out now! Our latest edition is overflowing with features from more than 20 talented women photographers.
Inside this issue, you’ll find a wealth of photographers who are using their art as a means of understanding, coping with, and taking control of personal and societal challenges. There’s work tackling the climate crisis, chronic pain, menopause, and expectations of motherhood. Other photographers highlight communities among music fans, larger-bodied swimmers, and people celebrating the changing of the seasons.
There’s plenty more besides, including updates on key RPS Women in Photography initiatives like the 40% Project celebrating the record number of women in the House of Commons. This issue’s Path to Distinction profiles Anastasia Potekhina, who shares how she secured her FRPS with a series of sophisticated self-portraits shot on a mobile phone. And there are fresh insights in our recurring feature One Thing I Know, and recommendations for great reads by female photographers in Favourite Photobooks.
As always, we’re showcasing the winners and runners-up from our cover photo competition. This issue’s front cover, by Valerie Mather ARPS, shows workers in the brick fields in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Gracing the back cover are “Phoenix and Toad” pictured on an evening walk by Ann Owen.
Heartfelt thanks to all of our incredible contributors and to our volunteer editorial team for creating another amazing issue.
Happy reading!
