Statement of Intent

I have lived in Sussex for most of my life and have always been struck by the beauty of the countryside.  I seek to reflect this in my panel, showing some of our flowers and butterflies. I have chosen not only species that are rare or only locally common, but also those that are more frequent and may be seen by anyone out walking with their eyes open.  I have sought to find species that occur in a variety of different habitats, including calcareous soils, heaths, meadows, woods, bogs and gardens.

All my images have been shot in the wild, with the butterflies free-flying.  Natural light has been used throughout, with no use of flash.
