Applying for your Licentiate

It’s easy to apply for your Licentiate online through our intuitive online application portal. Applicants have full control over the process, with the ability upload images, review, save progress, and when they are ready submit.

To get started or access an existing application go to the application portal and use your RPS Account credentials to login. To begin your application you'll pay the submission fee of £85, or £42.50 if you are eligible for a concession.

Licentiate deadline dates

You can submit your Licentiate application whenever you are ready, then following the last Sunday of the month all the applications received that month are then sent for assessment.

Every applicant receives written feedback with their outcome within six weeks. This provides you with an understanding of your strengths, as well as any areas that could be developed.

Explore the Licentiate criteria

Licentiate requires the applicant to submit 10 digital images and a presentation layout for assessment. All applications should address the Licentiate Assessment criteria which is fully explained in the Licentiate Criteria documentation and videos. This criterion includes:

  1. Technical Camera Work
  2. Artistic Visual Awareness
  3. Communication (visual narrative and presentation).

The criteria and assessment will be explained by Distinctions Manager Andy Moore and Hazel Frost in a series of videos. Coming soon!

Licentiate Assessors

A group of qualified members who volunteer to assess Distinction submissions. They review the applications against the criteria and provide feedback on every Licentiate application. They also provide online advice and attend advisory days.

Certificates

Replacement Certificates & Badges...

Duplicate Certificates and Lapel Badges can be purchased from the Distinctions Department. This is particularly useful if either are lost, damaged or you just want a spare. 

To purchase, please email distinctions@rps.org with your name and membership number stating which item you're after. For Certificates, please also include your name as you would like it to appear. 

Certificates: £25 each 

Lapel Badges: £10 each

Both prices above include postage. 

Please note: You must be a current member to purchase a new certificate or badge.
