Statement of Intent
I love my garden and photography, so it was only natural that I would combine the two. I also like experimenting with both, in order to create an ‘impressionistic feel’.
I wanted to create a panel where the texture of the paper and the slightly uneven application, by hand with a sponge, of the cyanotype chemicals, became part of the image, rather than just a surface on which the picture is printed.
Therefore, like the petals on the flowers in the photographs, they can never be exactly reproduced.
I think that by using this process I get more feeling of the ethereal and ephemeral beauty I see naturally in my garden.
