Exhibition “Colour"
Dear friends of the Royal Photographic Society
It has been two years since we welcomed you to the last exhibition of our Chapter, which featured "White" as the subject. As a follow on to our previous exhibition, we have chosen this time the subject "Colour".
In a recent article, published in the art magazine "Blue", the author stated the following:
"For a long time, black and white photography had been the "medium of documentation", and colour photography was only used for advertising or for calendars. Serious photographers did not want to have anything to do with it. A younger generation of photographers born in the fifties has changed this."
Referring back to our earlier definitions of "White ", we have today the following thoughts on "Colour ":
Colour is everywhere
Colour is stimulating
Colour is exciting
Colour is soothing
Colour is emotion
Autumn means colour
Colour is expressive, aggressive or a soft watercolour
There are warm colours, and there are cold colours
Colour is an experience
Colour is aesthetic
Colour is complementary
Colour is psychology
The colour symbolizes envy, danger, and trust
Does one dream in colour?
According to Wikipedia, colour is an individual visual perception, which is created by light.
How we, the eleven photographers, individually interpreted this can be seen below.
Each of the ten participating members of the German Chapter was able to submit five photographs of their choice for the exhibition. An additional picture was submitted by our honorary member "Tony Cutler" in which he provides his view of the city of Hagen.
