Travel Image of the Month - March 2021 :  Myanmar Commuters - Steve Jones

Winner:  Myanmar Commuters.

"This image has impact and captures the sense of place not just in what we see of the local environment but in what the subjects are doing - taking a regular journey by heavily laden improvised local transport with another similar vehicle ahead. Nicely composed and plenty of human interest."

"Again that sense of place is clear, and capturing this must have taken patience waiting for an absence of bystanders to maximise impact. Sense of time is clear from the morning light bathing in a glow the wall behind the sweeper. Taj nicely framed in the archway and a well captured image of an everyday task in process."

"A very clear and straightforward image that shows not only the commuters but also the rising steam and smoke in the distance from the locomotives and cooling towers reinforce the feeling of an industrial  environment. Sense of time is apparent from the early morning light."
