Travel Image of the Month - February 2020 Winner
Many thanks to the 30 photographers that entered our Travel Image of the Month competition for February, as ever there have been some amazing shots from a wide variety of locations from across the globe that has made it especially difficult for our judge to select just one as a winner.
In his comments he made particular note of the way our community of photographers were interpreting 'sense of place', with special reference to the mood and emotions that was being portrayed by the shots, these were photographs that portrayed a feeling as well as a sense of being in the location.
However, he was asked to select just one as this month's winner, and that honour goes to Stu Thompson for his shot 'Lone Walker at Kerlingafjoil, Iceland'. The judge's rationale for the selection was ..
"There were several strong contenders for winning this month's competition. From these I selected Lone Walker at Kerlingafjoil, Iceland. It captures the sense of place, and in particular the vastness and isolation of the location. The eponymous lone walker emphasises the scale and challenge of the terrain, and transforms the image from being a pure landscape."
Congratulations to Stu, who has asked that we include his website address along with his name here, allowing you to see some of the other work he has done as a travel photographer. www.stuthompsonphotography.com
