Travel Image of the Month: March 2020 - Ox Cart Racing The Train - Ian Silvester ARPS
It has been a record breaking month for entries to our monthly competition, where 41 members of the Travel Group submitted shots. The quality, diversity and subject matter of the images that were submitted were genuinely jaw dropping, and it reflects well on the group that even in the darkest of times, some light can be brought by viewing the images you have sent in. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put in to your contributions.
In assessing the shots our judge, Richard Lewis ARPS, mentioned several contenders that could have won, especially picking out Gareth Hughes image 'Laughing Monk' as a shot to lighten up these strange times.

However, there can only be one winner and the selection of the winning shot fell to our judge Richard Lewis ARPS, decided that overall it was Ian Silvester's photograph "Ox Cart Racing The Train" that should get the nod as this month's winner.

Richard commented:
"I’ve gone for Ox Cart Racing the Train.
This image creates a sense of place and of occasion. It is well composed with the elements all interlocking nicely. It also engaged me, with the interaction of the approaching train and the ox cart in its path. The worker looking on from the field behind, and the smoke from the train add to the atmosphere."
Congratulations to Ian, and his winning shot will be added to the Travel Image of the Month page on the website, with the overall monthly winners competing to be the Group’s best travel photograph of the year.
