Result of the January 2020 Travel Image of the Month

In total we had 23 photographers who posted images on our January competition website, many of which were submitting images for the first time, so many thanks for all of you that took the time and effort after the Christmas break to contribute your amazing shots. 

It was an interesting month overall, not just because of the sheer quality of images, but for the first time over 20% of the images posted, came from photographers based outside of the UK reflecting the fact that the genre is genuinely of interest to members across the globe.

Congratulations to Alistair Cowan  for winning January's Travel Image of the Month with his shot 'Offering on Rail Street'.

"Another crop of very good images to select from, with many potential winning candidates.

For me, the one that jumped out was Offering on Rail Street.

It immediately invoked that sense of place, and captured an empathy with the subject. The low level camera position emphasised perspective and enabled the background surroundings to be clearly seen and understood. A nice image, well executed."

• The winning shot will be added to the Travel Image of the Month page on the website, with the overall monthly winners competing to be the Group’s best travel photograph of the year.
