Subjective View is a new collection of some 30 works by Frankie McAllister, selected and curated by The observatory Gallery. The work is drawn from a number of different landscape series, threaded together by McAllister’s visceral and subjective response to landscape. “The experience of landscape is never a neutral or objective thing and a photograph cannot really be a completely accurate record, it is always a reflection of what the photographer receives and perceives in a given moment. The intention is to create images that look the way a particular landscape felt in that moment, rather than attempting to show it the way it ‘is’. “

In this way, McAllister weaves together the light and the dark, whether inherent in the scene or from within, to create impressionist imagery which incorporates the deeper emotions, connections and memories until they become rich textural interplays of place, time and association. - Nearest Tube Russell Square.

We’re delighted to share some wonderful news from Portrait of Britain 2025.

Four members of RPS Women in Photography have been shortlisted in this year’s prestigious award, organised by 1854 Media. Their work is among the 200 images selected for the Portrait of Britain 2025 shortlist — a powerful snapshot of life across the UK today.

Each portrait tells a compelling and thoughtful story, reflecting the depth, diversity, and social engagement that define contemporary British portraiture — and the strength of our RPS WIP community.

We’re delighted to announce that Anna will be featured in volume 2 of Clwb Ffoto's publication.

Anna Dabrowska is a mother, hairdresser and photographer born in Poland and based in Wales since 2011. Her work is driven by an interest in history, people, and place, and how these forces shape identity and everyday experience.

Working primarily with documentary photography, her practice is informed by the mother’s gaze, exploring themes of intimacy, care, and family life. Alongside this, she photographs candid moments within her hairdressing salon, using the space as a site of social exchange where personal stories, relationships, and subtle transformations emerge.

The book will be released February 4th and will coincide with an exhibition showcasing work in the book.
