International Photography Exhibition 163 - Artist Talks
To celebrate the opening of the IPE 163, the RPS is delighted to have a series of talks from exhibitors as part of the IPE Open House on 16 April.
Àsìkò is a UK-based Nigerian conceptual artist who explores his ideas within the medium of photography, mixed media, and film.
Àsìkò series Manifestations featured in the exhibition explores a long-held desire to revisit, reconnect and unpack formative cultural experiences from Àsìkò childhood in Nigeria; encounters with the Egun masquerade. Egungun in Yoruba culture (in Nigeria) are entities of power that act as conduits between the living and the ancestors.
Àsìkò's talk will centre around the series and how it is an emotional anthology of a journey of memories from Nigeria to his present residency in the UK. He will talk about his journey as a road map to the work he creates.
Entry to the talk is free for everyone. Please consider purchasing a ticket which includes a donation of £5. As an independent charity, the RPS needs your support, and your donation helps us to continue our mission of bringing 'Photography for Everyone'.
