IPE 163 Open House Talks: Bex Day

International Photography Exhibition 163 - Artist Talks

To celebrate the opening of the IPE 163, the RPS is delighted to have a series of talks from exhibitors as part of the IPE Open House on 16 April.

Bex Day is a self-taught fashion and documentary photographer based in London. Bex’s images are often raw, confrontational, and controversial; hyper-detailed, sharp, and striking views of alternative and utterly legitimate forms of normality.

Bex's image featured in the exhibition is from the series Children of Covid which details the way Covid-19 has altered the subject’s psyche from the perspective of a child or parent developing over lockdown.

Following the outbreak of the Coronavirus came an unprecedented change in the way we organise ourselves both daily and socially. People everywhere had to embrace this new version of normality. Children, in particular, were faced with the effects of an abrupt withdrawal from school, social life, and outdoor activities.

Joy Gregory from the IPE 163 selection panel said of the image: "for me it was nostalgic yet present" and, "Bex Day is proving herself to be an accomplished portrait photographer and I look forward to seeing more of her work in the not-too-distant future."

Entry to the talk is free for everyone. Please consider purchasing a ticket which includes a donation of £5. As an independent charity, the RPS needs your support, and your donation helps us to continue our mission of bringing 'Photography for Everyone'.
