JONATHAN VAINES LRPS

Jonathan purchased his first Camera in 2011 which soon became his newfound hobby, quickly turning into a significant part of his life.  It’s a part he believes helps maintain a healthy wellbeing and provides a creative release.  He’s proud of the numerous successful image acknowledgements he’s received but being awarded a London Salon medal tops the tree.  He teaches Photoshop in both group and one to one sessions and runs processing workshops for the Royal Photographic Society Digital Imaging Group, and is a circuit Judge and a Paper Spectrum sponsored Lecturer, & also Affiliated with DxO Labs for Software and Wex Photo Video. The majority of his photographic time is spent thinking, time planning the outcome and visualising the print before pressing the shutter release. He uses the camera to create, paint and even manipulate an image using a number of in camera techniques. He frequently works with images in groups, sets or panels. With every image produced his aim is to convey the feeling he experienced at the time of taking and offers an opportunity for the viewer to see the subject in a different way.

POLINA PLOTNIKOVA FRPS

Polina is a Russian-born, London-based photographer. Her style developed through her love and knowledge of fine art and art history. She started with building an impressive portfolio of still life and flower photography. This body of work has acquired a lot of attention and got Polina an FRPS and an EFIAP photography distinctions, as well as many national and international photographic awards. Keen interest in travel and landscape photography followed, and throughout all her photographic work, Polina is much more interested in chasing an ever-elusive image that appears in a mind’s eye, an image that conveys feelings and emotions, rather than remains a mere statement of fact.

Having mastered the art of digital post-processing, Polina knows its limitations all too well, and is ever so keen to achieve the desired effect in-camera. She is an avid proponent of the Lensbaby family of optics, which help her achieve the translucent, dreamlike quality of her images. Polina is very much in demand as a tutor; she runs regular workshops covering many aspects of creative photography, including the series organised recently by the Royal Photographic Society.
