Thinking about volunteering

Volunteering within the Western Region of the RPS

Volunteers are intrinsic to our region, and we have a great variety of roles on offer.

Our roles encourage you to use your existing skills and develop new ones.

This includes running volunteer teams and events, writing blogs and managing communications, hanging photos, hosting a photowalk, stewarding at an event and even helping recruit new members.

You can take on a role, or multiple roles and get involved every week or volunteer ad-hoc when you can.

Volunteering is a great way to use your skill set and meet new people.

We do have something for everyone, and we’d love to welcome you to the Western team that is already volunteering.

What the region can offer

These are some of the benefits that volunteering at the RPS can bring;

  • A clear explanation of what your role involves, including regular training opportunities
  • Appropriate resources and assistance to help you carry out your role
  • A full RPS induction and training specific to your role
  • Opportunities to expand your skills and experience in your role, and to change or take on additional roles
  • The services of a dedicated Volunteering Manager, responsible for providing guidance and support
  • Agreed out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed by Society policy
  • Most regional paid workshops are offered to the Core and Extended Team Committee Members for free
  • All regional volunteers are invited to an annual regional volunteers' day
  • Recognition for your volunteering, awards 4, 8 and 12 years

You don't have to be a committee member and can donate as little as 4 1/2 hours per year.
