What counts as a landscape

Landscape photography is the photographic portrayal of all elements of the land, sea and sky, whether natural, built, or influenced by human endeavour. Mountains, hills, farmland, coasts, bodies of water, forests, populated and industrial areas all qualify. Images may be created using traditional or other techniques including infrared, multiple exposures, intentional camera movement, abstraction, minimalism, and post-processing.

How to enter

Members may submit up to three images, each resized to 2000 pixels on the long edge. Click the Submit your images button, then add the title and your name. Use the naming convention image-title-by-firstname-lastname, and include your RPS distinction if you hold one.

All Landscape Group members are invited to vote, and the first, second and third place winners are announced on the RPS Landscape Group website and on social media. Winners and runners-up are featured in RPS Landscape publications and may also be shared on Fotovue's website and social media, always with credit.

This Quarter's Theme

Weather and Atmosphere

Still Here by Jacky Lee, illustrating the Weather and Atmosphere theme

Still Here · Jacky Lee

There is something deeply evocative about the way weather shapes a scene. A drifting veil of mist, the drama of storm clouds, the hush of falling snow, the glow after rain or the shimmer of heat in the distance: atmosphere can transform even the most familiar landscape into something powerful, mysterious or serene. This theme invites you to explore the moods created by the elements and the way nature's changing conditions influence light, colour, texture and emotion.

Whether you are capturing sweeping skies, fleeting fog, dramatic rain or subtle atmospheric effects that add depth and feeling to an image, we would love to see your interpretation of Weather and Atmosphere.
