1st Place

Spinningfields by David Travis ARPS

I was in Manchester in February to drop off a broken computer at the Apple Store. While I was in Manchester, I decided to spend some time photographing the architecture. This image shows No 1 Spinningfields. Photographing directly upwards is not an easy angle to shoot at, so I was thankful for the rotating LCD on my Olympus EM-1 Mark II. This helped me make sure that I maintained some separation between the two buildings. The sky was bland (not unusual for Manchester) so I did some serious dodging and burning on it in post-processing. I usually create these kinds of images in black and white but this time I thought I'd try a muted colour version.

You can see more of my work at davidtravisphotography.com.
