Theo Bosboom Double Spread From Shaped By The Sea
Saturday Webinar - The Art of Sequencing with Theo Bosboom
January 11th 2025, DI members free

While most photographers put a lot of time and energy in taking images and optimising them in post-processing, remarkably little attention is paid to how images are then published and shared, whether online or in book form. Photographers who do want to devote time and attention to design, choice of images and sequencing often find it very difficult to get started and make the right decisions. This webinar will cover selection and sequencing for books and shorter series for various presentations, and especially creating compelling pairings.

Theo Bosboom is a passionate photographer from the Netherlands, specialising in nature and landscapes. His photographs are regularly published in renowned magazines; he has won numerous awards and recognition in prestigious international photography competitions; his work has been exhibited in museums around the world; and he has published four photo books.

Vanda Ralevska
Sunday Webinar - Looking Beyond a Single Image with Vanda Ralevska
February 23rd, RPS members free

We all evolve on our photographic journey. We shift our focus to different subjects, techniques and equipment. For Vanda, the biggest change was moving away from single images to bodies of work. It allows her to go deeper into the subject, theme, location or idea, rather than just get one lucky shot here and there.

In her presentation, Vanda will focus on her journey from capturing single images, through creating collections and series, to working on short and long-term projects. She will explore how working in projects helps you get out of a creative block and find your own personal vision.

Vanda is an award-winning UK-based landscape photographer. She is a Kase Filters Ambassador, a member of the Arena Photographers group, and a Landscape Photographer of the Year competition judge.

Jonathan Vaines ME
Saturday Webinar - The Thinking Behind M.E. with Jonathan Vaines
March 22nd, DI members free

This is a follow-on talk from the award-winning "Little Print Show" and is based on Jonathan's new print talk "M.E., Myself and Eye". Jonathan is an artistic creative photographer, and the vast majority of his image-making is in-camera multiple exposure, but he also works to combine multiple exposures and textures in post processing. In this hour-long presentation, he will talk about the importance to him of project work, where his ideas come from and how he directs his work to connect and communicate with his audience.

Jonathan is a multiple exposure (M.E.) specialist. Most of his work involves in-camera techniques along with final image adjustments in Photoshop. Based in Bedford, he works as a photographic educator for many organisations including the RPS.

Upcoming events

Our regular Saturday programme for 2025 is now being planned, and you can book the first ones above. We try to find interesting subjects for the talks, rather than just "show us your photos".

We also offer other online events and workshops linked to our various projects, which are announced in our email broadcasts.
