Communication is a two-way process. You can engage with the DI Group in various ways:

legs and roadInterschools Photography Competition 2026

This event is an initiative by the Rotary Club of Ringwood with Ringwood School.

DI is delighted to be one of the sponsors, and members of our Southern Centre are involved in the image selection for the exhibition.

This year the subject of the competition was ‘PERSPECTIVE’ and there were more than 800 entries from schools across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, in three age categories from Primary up to Year 13, with an additional category for parents and teachers. The Exhibition and awards presentations were hosted by Ringwood School on the 10th March.

The Rotary Club of Ringwood awarded a certificate to each image accepted, an overall winner and a winner and runner up in each class. The Arts University of Bournemouth (AUB) also made an award. As part of its involvement, RPS DI awarded a certificate in each category.

Left, you will see Joseph's DI certificate-winning entry in the 7-10 class. As you will see, the future of photography is in safe and creative hands!

Saturday webinar - "Minimalism" with Tony Worobiec FRPS
August 8th 2026, DI members free

"Minimalism" is a term that has been appropriated from art and encourages the visual artist to be specific about the elements he/she wishes to explore, and this is the starting point of Tony's presentation. On the principle that "less is more", we are encouraged to pare down our visual elements to only those that are truly required to communicate our thoughts and emotions. This requires self-discipline, but once mastered, our photographs assume a much greater sense of clarity and we can develop our own unique way of seeing.

Tony Worobiec FRPS studied fine art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and spent 18 years as head of a large design faculty in Dorset. He has won numerous awards, exhibited in major venues, and is a prolific author of books and magazine articles.

Webinar - "STILL: The Art of Noticing" with Mary Jo Hoffman
September 5th 2026, DI members free

Every single day for over a decade, Mary Jo Hoffman has made a photograph of found nature – no subject too small or too ordinary. For Hoffman, this daily ritual cracked open profound revelations about the connectedness of all things, the importance of place, and her own life. This daily practice culminated in Still: The Art of Noticing, a collection of breathtaking photographs from Hoffman's enormous archive, accompanied by perceptive essays illuminating the insights she's gained along the way.

Join Hoffman, an artist-photographer and former aeronautical engineer, as she shares her artistic process, approach to mindfulness, and the Japanese concept of micro-seasons.
