Close to home Project

A set of six images taken in 2022 covering a period of several months up to a full year.

The Landscape group 'Close to Home' Project 2022

A collaborative project bringing together the best of photography from RPS Landscape Group members.

There are wonderful locations that have been photographed all over the UK but some iconic places are far from where we live.  As we do not all live near great mountain ranges, cascading waterfalls or ancient forests  we may have to travel great distances to visit them.  However it is unlikely we can return to compare the same location on a regular basis to witness the changes through the year.  But there are still a multitude of wonderful photographs to be taken close to home - often within walking distance.

This enables us all to witness and photograph changes on a regular basis throughout the year.  These changes may be caused by weather, seasonal or even man made influences.

Many of RPS Landscape distinctions are awarded where local projects enable photographers to refine their panels on a regular basis by being close to home.

The submissions in this Project show the ingenuity RPS Landscape photographers have taken to reflect the changes around them to reflect the passage of time through the year.  All submissions will be displayed on the RPS Landscape website and a number selected in  future RPS Landscape publications

Thank you to all have participated - hope you all enjoyed it !

About the Project

Project leader, Mike Lloyd suggested making multiple visits to an area close to home enabling members to photograph the variations during 2022 in an environmentally friendly way. This could mean photographing the same scene through the seasons or taking abstract images that reflect interpretations of the local area through the year.

To take part in this project members created a set of six images taken in 2022 covering a period of several months up to a full year.

- Taken locally (say within 10 miles of their home)

- Forms a cohesive set of six images

- Interprets the passage of time through 2022
