UPDATE 23rd MAY 2026

The weather forecast certainly looks amazing for this Bank Holiday weekend, which makes a change. It’s a great time to get out there in your local neighbourhood and capture some images for your project.
Then later in the week we have our second Project Zoom meetings and a chance for you to share images and discus ideas for projects etc. Please do come along.

Important dates:

Next Zoom Meetings
Our next Zooms are scheduled for Thursday 28th and Sunday 31st May at 7pm and 10am respectively. Remember – you only need to attend one meeting and attendance is by no means compulsory!

Topic: Topic: RPS London Project Communities & Culture Zooms No 2
Time: Sunday May 31, 2026, 10:00 London

Dropbox Link:
We would like everyone to upload a maximum of five images for the Zoom meetings on 28th and 31st May

It would be much appreciated if we could see some of your work in progress, but only if you are happy to share both your work and ideas Please don’t worry if you haven’t started by then – there is plenty of time and we hope you will be encouraged by what you see.

Volunteers

As with all the Region’s projects, this is and should be a team effort and we will need people to help out at various points with various tasks such as the book, the exhibition and making ‘zines. In these early stages, we are looking for someone to help with administration tasks, such as keeping records of who is taking part, what theme they are following etc.  Please contact us at London Projects, or contact Edith at londonevents@rps.org

Keeping In Touch

The Project Team can be contacted on londonprojects@rps.org

Key Images

We are still looking for suggestions for a key image we can use to identify the Project. Ideas to the Project Team please.

And Finally

We very much hope that you will stay with the project and exhibit your work. However, if you decide not to continue that is fine – we only ask that you cancel your place using your original Eventbrite receipt or by telling the Project Team.

We look forward to seeing some of you on Thursday or Sunday.
Enjoy your weekend and any photography you get a chance to take.

The Project Team.

UPDATE 29th APRIL2026

Thank you to everyone who joined the Zoom meetings on 23 April and 26 April. Although only a few ideas have been shared so far, we expect momentum to grow as contributors start developing their projects. We’re looking forward to seeing this build over the coming weeks as people begin shaping their ideas and preparing images for the next Zoom meeting.

Zoom Meetings 23 and 26 April - Summary and Clarifications
We went through the attached slide deck bringing out the following points and giving clarification where needed:
• We have no set definition of culture or community – this is very much about the individual photographer’s interpretation. Anything given in the slides is simply there as an example to give ideas.
• Whilst we encourage photographers to think broadly, care and judgement may be needed with anything of a controversial nature. If in doubt ask the Project Team.
• The outputs will be
o a curated exhibition (date and venue TBA),
o a book
o an optional zine. Guidance will be given on zines for those who would like to make one.
• Further information will be given about number of images to submit for the exhibition and book nearer the time.
• London is broadly anywhere within the M25.

Next Zoom Meeting
We will hold these on Thursday 28 and Sunday 31 May – links will be sent out nearer the time. Remember – you only need to attend one meeting. We would like everyone to upload a maximum of five images – we really want to see your work in progress and hear your ideas on the brief. Please don’t worry if you haven’t started by then – there is plenty of time and you might be inspired by what you see.

Volunteers
We shall need to increase the project team as time goes on. We are in the process of deciding what skills we need and when – watch this space for more information.

Keeping In Touch
We shall hold regular zoom meetings and a newsletter every two weeks.

UPDATE 26th APRIL - FAQs

This year photographers will be asked to contribute individual images to form a curated portrait of everyday life in London.

How many images may I contribute?
The precise number of images will depend on the size of the venue and the number of contributors. However, we want people to put in a broad selection of their work so that the Project Team have more to choose from and can produce a good and inclusive exhibition.

What about my other images, how will they be displayed so that I can tell my story fully?
All the images from each photographer will be included in a photobook. There is also the possibility to make a personal zine to really tell your story in your own way.
Exhibition

When will the exhibition take place?
We are aiming to hold the exhibition in October or November 2026, but this is of course dependent on finding a suitable venue.

What is the deadline for contributions?
We are asking for contributions by 13 September 2026.

What happens if I can’t make this deadline?
If this is going to be a problem, please discuss with the Project Team (Londonprojects@rps.org).

Do I have to produce a zine ?
No – we hope that you will consider this, but you do not have to make one.

Will there be guidance on how to make a zine?
Yes – we shall send round guidance on zines for those who would like to make one.

Will the zines be on display at the exhibition?
Yes, that is the intention.

Going Forward
How do I keep in touch during the project?
We shall have regular zoom meetings to give feedback on work in progress and discuss any issues which may arise.
We shall also send out a newsletter to all participants – at least monthly and probably fortnightly. The Project Team can be contacted on londonprojects@rps.org if you need guidance or support.
